The Project
The St James Pub changed hands and the new owners wanted to increase it's appeal
to local families.
A major refurbishment and extension of the dining area were planned, along with a
playground area.
Following an investigation into suppliers, the project manager visited our Thames Valley
Display Centre to see the product and we were then asked to supply a design.

The Design

Our design was successful and we were asked to supply and install the play equipment
before Easter (less than 4 weeks);

(we recommended Grassmat Safety Surface, however, the customer chose playbark
which they sourced and installed themselves)

The Inspection
The Spring Rockers are still in perfect condition;

as are the three Climbing Frames and Chin-up Bars;

and the Balance Beam;

Unfortunately, the contractor did not lay membrane under the playbark so it has
broken down and compacted into the soil, leaving our concrete exposed and the
ground as hard as tarmac.
This is a good example of the short term cost advantage offered by Playbark, but
the long-term expense of maintaining it properly.
