Introducing a whole new piece of play equipment. The Discovery Explorer! We’re delighted to share with you.
This is currently the largest single piece of play equipment we offer. It has a footprint of 1.7m squared at ground level and 1.7m x 2.5m at the upper platform height (1.5m). This is due to the balcony on the front which overhangs to offer more space.
The Explorer is part of a new range of residential play equipment from our friends at Discovery. All due to be on the Just outdoor toy website early next year. Keep your eyes peeled for more installs of this. If you’d like any more information regarding the Explorer or any of the other products in the range then get in touch.
When we visited Tetbury goods Shed in early 2019 they told us they wanted something exciting for the children as the area was popular with families because of the open field and popular cafe. They wanted a play area which not only was fun, but also reflected the history of the railway and goods shed. We came up with a fun design for the children but also one which blended beautifully in to it’s surroundings.
As always, competition was tough. We came up against a few other companies who also met with the client The designs were printed off and laid out for the residents to view and vote for their favourite.
Eventually we got a call from them at the start of the year (2020). We started to manufacture the play equipment in our workshop around March time but Covid-19 put an end to us doing any work for the next few weeks. When the restrictions were lifted slightly we set back to work and finished off the pieces of equipment.
Next we had to wait for the area to be levelled and seeded. Once all this was done we set aside two weeks on site. One week for the fencing (There were also some old sleepers which we had to remove) and a week to install the equipment and lay the pathways.
The Tetbury goods shed play area consisted of a train with a crawl tunnel through the middle and seating at the back, a signal box with a with a working signal, a footbridge tower with a stainless steel slide, ladder and rock wall on the back, A swing set (one baby and one flat seat), safety matting around the areas that need it, 2 x benches, and the whole area fenced off with 2 gates. The total bill for this project was £24,000 inc vat.
Overall, it was a very rewarding and satisfying job and most importantly, it looks amazing! Take a look at the finished photos compared to the original design. We also offered a ROSPA inspection to give the client piece of mind and a maintenance package (We will return next year free of charge to check everything over)
A few years ago we installed some of our Discovery Play Towers in a small village in Oxfordshire called Stanton Saint John. The client was extremely pleased with the towers and happened to recommend us to their neighboring village Forest Hill. We went to meet the client on site and quickly drew up a plan for him. After a few tweaks we landed on two towers linked with a bridge, a traverse wall, a balcony with a ramp leading to it, double sided rock walls and a spider net. Accessories include slide, net, fire pole and a crawl tunnel. We also installed a swing frame in the park.
Installation took around a week as we also had to remove some old play equipment, we encountered all different weather conditions but battled through and the outcome was great.
Overall the customer was extremely pleased and is currently raising funds for more play equipment.
Nelson Primary School contacted us over Christmas of 2019, They said they wanted to transform a tired area of their playground in to a really impressive area with a centrepiece……….preferably a ship as that was their school logo. As soon as we returned after our Christmas break we came up with a new design for them which they loved. We got the green light very quickly and started to manufacture our new product, The Discovery Play Ship XL.
We installed a nest swing for Stoke Goldington at the start of the year, we knew this was only the start of their playground redevelopment. They had a nice space for play equipment but all their old kit was tired and needed redoing. They liked the look of our two play towers linked with a fixed bridge + accessessories. They had an area which was just about the perfect size to fit the equipment in. When they raised the funds they gave us a nod. The weather was horrendous when we installed this but the end product was brilliant. We matched the colour of the nest swing (blue) on the accessories for the towers. This seems to be a popular play combination for councils and parks all over the country as the play value is high (swinging, sliding, climbing, crawling). If you like the look of this play set do not hesitate to get in touch.
Total cost of project – £15,000 inc vat, installed.
